A Sweet Newborn Session: Celebrating A Precious Baby Girl
Photographing newborns is such a special experience, and this sweet girl’s session was no exception. From her tiny little toes to those bright, curious eyes, she made every moment feel so precious.
While I usually aim for those dreamy, sleepy newborn poses (because let’s be honest, sleeping babies are way easier to photograph), I have to admit—I love capturing awake baby portraits, too. There’s just something about those little expressions and wide-eyed curiosity that makes my heart melt.
That said, awake babies do keep me on my toes! They tend to move around a lot, sometimes go adorably cross-eyed as they figure out how to focus, and occasionally scratch at their faces. Plus, let’s face it, if a newborn is awake, there’s a good chance they just want to be snuggled, fed, or changed—which I’m always happy to work around.
This is exactly why I send every family my Baby Prep Guide before their newborn session. It’s filled with tips to help the session run smoothly, whether baby is wide awake or peacefully snoozing the whole time.
For this session, we got such a sweet mix of both! Her little awake moments were full of personality, and her sleepy ones gave us those soft, cozy vibes that just make you want to freeze time. Watching her parents hold her so gently and love on her was such a joy to capture.
The soft neutrals, cozy wraps, and delicate details in this session came together so beautifully, and I know these images will be treasured for years to come. I feel so lucky to document moments like this for families—it really is the best job ever.
