Extended Family Photography at the Iris Farm in Loomis | Fall Family Session

Some families become part of your story, and photographing them year after year is one of the greatest gifts of this work.

This family is one I have had the joy of photographing every single year, and this year’s session was extra special. They decided to turn their annual family photos into a full extended family session by inviting parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews along. The result was an incredibly meaningful session full of connection, energy, and so much love.

We met at the Iris Farm in Loomis, which once again delivered the most beautiful fall colors. Even late in the season, the golden leaves created the perfect backdrop for a session of this size. Fall sessions like this are always a favorite because the colors feel timeless and photograph beautifully for families of all ages.

One of the best parts of extended family sessions is the variety they allow. We captured full group portraits, individual families, siblings together, grandparents with grandkids, and smaller combinations that make these galleries so valuable. These are the kinds of images that families will frame, pass down, and look back on for years to come.

It was also so nice meeting everyone who joined the session this year. Even with a larger group, everything flowed smoothly and felt relaxed. That is always my goal with extended family photography, to keep things organized but natural so everyone can simply enjoy being together.

If you have been thinking about an extended family session, especially with parents or grandparents included, this is your reminder that these moments are worth documenting. Bringing everyone together might not happen often, which makes sessions like this even more meaningful.

The Iris Farm continues to be one of my favorite locations for fall family photography, and sessions like this are exactly why.
