Spring Iris Farm Family Session | Sacramento Family Photographer

Every year, iris season quickly becomes one of the most magical times for family sessions, and this beautiful evening at the iris farm was the perfect way to kick off this year’s mini sessions.

I offered six iris farm sessions total this season spread across three evenings, and every single year these spots become harder and harder to grab as more families discover just how gorgeous this location truly is. I’m already hoping I’ll be able to open at least two full weekends next year because the demand for these sessions has grown so much.

While I photograph at this location year-round and honestly love it during every season, there is just something extra special about the irises in bloom. The colors, the winding garden paths, the soft evening light filtering through the trees, it all feels incredibly dreamy this time of year.

This session was especially meaningful for me because it gave me the chance to reconnect with this sweet family after so many years. I had known mom when we were much younger through mutual friends almost 20 years ago, so getting to catch up with her again and finally meet her beautiful family was really special. It’s always such a small world, and one of my favorite parts of this job is reconnecting with people during such meaningful seasons of their lives.

The gardens were absolutely glowing that evening. Between the blooming irises, warm golden light, and the sweetest family interactions, this session felt effortless from beginning to end. I loved documenting the connection between all of them and capturing both natural family moments and individual portraits throughout the gardens.

One thing I love most about iris season is how timeless the images feel. The flowers create such a soft and romantic backdrop while still allowing the focus to stay fully on the family and their connection together.

If you’ve been considering booking an iris farm session in the Sacramento area, I always recommend planning ahead because these limited spring dates tend to fill very quickly each year.

If you’re looking for a Sacramento or Roseville family photographer for natural outdoor family portraits, spring flower sessions, or golden hour photography, I’d love to help you plan your session.
