Six Month Milestone Session in Roseville Studio | Classic Baby + Family Photos

There is just something about a six month milestone session that makes my photographer heart so happy.

Six months is that sweet spot where babies are full of personality, giving the biggest smiles, grabbing their toes, chewing on their sleeves, and starting to sit up like little pros. It’s such a fun stage because they are still very much a baby… but you can already see who they’re becoming.

This session took place at the studio I use in Roseville, CA, and the goal was simple.

Classic. Clean. Timeless.

And honestly, it turned out exactly how I love milestone sessions to feel.

A Classic Setup That Never Gets Old

For this session, we kept everything neutral and minimal so the focus stayed exactly where it should be… on this sweet baby boy and all of his expressions.

His little blue outfit was perfect. Soft, cozy, and simple, and it photographed beautifully against both the deep blue backdrop and the clean studio setups. I love using a variety of backgrounds during milestone sessions because it gives parents a mix of classic portrait-style images along with those bright, airy shots that feel clean and modern.

And can we talk about his smile?The kind that makes you instantly smile back.

Why Six Month Sessions Are One of My Favorites

I always tell parents that six month photos are such an underrated milestone. Everyone knows about newborn photos, and of course the first birthday cake smash is always exciting… but six months is such a special in-between stage.

At this age, babies are:

• usually sitting with support or independently

• super expressive and interactive

• full of gummy smiles

• still tiny enough to look like “your baby”

• and not quite on the move yet (most of the time!)

• 
  

It’s the perfect time to capture those classic baby portraits without having to chase them around the entire studio.

Milestone Photos Plus Family Photos

One of the things I love most is when families choose to include family portraits during milestone sessions. It makes the gallery feel so complete and tells a fuller story.

This session included a mix of baby-only images, sibling moments, and full family photos. Everything stayed simple and neutral, which is exactly what makes it timeless. No trendy props or distractions. Just clean backdrops, soft light, and real connection.
