Spring Maternity Session at the Botanical Garden in Carmichael | Sacramento Maternity Photographer

This session felt like such a full circle moment for me. This was her second maternity session with me, and getting to see her again, now with her one year old by her side, was so special. Watching families grow like this will never get old.

We met at one of my favorite botanical gardens in Carmichael, and even with the unpredictable spring we have been having this year, it showed up beautifully. The back and forth weather has definitely thrown off the usual bloom timing, but somehow we always find pockets of magic. The colors were soft and romantic, and the light that evening was just perfect.

She wore one of her own dresses, a soft pink that photographed so beautifully against all the greenery, and then changed into one of my client closet pieces, the pearl gown. That dress always adds something extra. It feels a little more elevated while still staying really natural and effortless.

And her daughter… oh my gosh. Right at that age where everything is a little unpredictable. She was not totally sure about the whole situation, which is honestly so normal for this stage. One year olds are busy, curious, and very much on their own agenda. And that is exactly why I approach sessions like this the way I do.

Instead of forcing anything, we just let her be herself. We took breaks, let her explore, let her stay close to mom when she needed to. And in between all of that, we got the sweetest moments. Little snuggles, tiny hand holds, and those expressions that you just cannot pose. That is always the goal with little ones. Real over perfect, every time.

Also worth mentioning if you are planning a spring session… mosquitoes. They definitely made their appearance this night. It is just part of this time of year, especially around gardens and water, so I always recommend being prepared. A little bug spray can go a long way so you can stay focused on enjoying your session.

This entire session felt soft, warm, and full of love. The kind of images that will mean even more years from now when they look back and remember this season of life.

If you have been thinking about booking a maternity session, spring really is such a beautiful time. Blooms or no blooms, we always find a way to create something

meaningful. And if you have little ones, just know you do not need perfect behavior. You just need to show up and let them be themselves. I will take care of the rest 🤍
