There’s something so special about first birthdays. That mix of excitement, curiosity, and joy is pure magic, and this little one brought all of it to their session at Bywater Hollow Lavender Farm in Lincoln, California.
The golden evening light, soft lavender tones, and warm breeze made the perfect setting for their one-year milestone session. We started with family portraits around the farm, soaking in the pretty light filtering through the trees. I love when parents join in during these sessions. It’s such a sweet way to remember this fleeting season and the love that fills it.
This family was full of laughter and connection, making it so easy to capture those natural smiles and cuddly moments. The little one lit up every time mom or dad scooped her up, and those giggles were contagious.
After the family portraits, we moved over to a cozy little spot for the cake smash. The pastel setup, the soft light, and that curious look before the first taste—it all came together perfectly. Frosting-covered fingers and happy smiles made for the most fun ending to the session.
Milestone sessions like this are some of my favorites. They’re full of personality, tiny details, and moments that go by far too quickly. Watching families grow and celebrating these big little milestones will always be one of the best parts of what I do.
If you’re planning a first birthday session or want updated family photos this season, I’d love to create something beautiful for you. My studio is based in Roseville, and I photograph families all over the Sacramento area, including Lincoln, Rocklin, Folsom, and beyond.
