Maternity Session At The Lavender Farm | Sacramento CA Maternity Photographer
Misha called me a few months back an explained that she needed a family session and a separate session for her maternity. Her son wanted family pictures done with just the three of them before baby arrived. So we did just that!
The first session, the family session, we had in their beautiful backyard that overlooks the river. It was absolutely stunning. You can see it here: Backyard Family Session | Sacramento Family Photographer
Location Details
Then we scheduled their maternity session for the gorgeous lavender farm. It was the perfect time to have their session there as the lavender was just beginning to bloom.
Even though we already got all the combinations at their recent family session I still make sure to get a variety at the maternity session as well. We simply focused on her adorable baby bump more during this session.
This location has so many pretty spots so we made sure to roam around and utilize the different scenery after we were done with the lavender field. This location has a beautiful dock that takes you out to the middle of the pond, horses in a pasture just past the pond, and large gorgeous willow tree near the second lavender field (that field wasn't quite in bloom yet). It the perfect location for Misha's maternity session!
Styling The Family For Your Maternity Pictures
We talked about the color palette before the session. We decided on a blue and sage color scheme. These colors will pair beautifully with the colors in her home and flow well with the location.
Misha did bring a crop top that we used later in the session. She wanted to replicate a picture she had taken during her first pregnancy. I love when clients have a unique idea like this. Something sweet and simple to tie the two sessions together.
I do suggest you use 2-3 outfit during your maternity session but you don't have to. This is just what I suggest. You can wear your own dresses, use mine, or do a mix of both! See my current client closet HERE.
I always like to head over to the docks at the end of the session. The light is the prettiest there in the evening just before sunset. The kids often enjoy being on the dock and dads are usually happy its almost time to go get some food! ;)
As I've mentioned before, I like to get a variety of combinations such a mom alone, mom and dad, mom and her kid(s), ect. I also like getting a variety of styled and candid images during my maternity session! If you choose to hire me as your maternity photographer then trust that you will get a good variety of both worlds!
